More Lumber

We have used nearly all of the lumber from the old barn. We were diligent (if not stingy) in using the boards, but there is going to be rotting and bug bitten wood that is 100 years old.

I have been eyeing a stack of lumber for over a year now. The "Lumber For Sale" sign has long since fell over. So by chance, I stopped in the office next to the vacant lot.

A call was placed for me to the owner's cell phone. I told him who I was and what I wanted. I was told that someone else had asked him basically the same question and he said, "Well, I have sold quite a bit of the lumber and it has been on the ground for a long time now. You are welcome to it."

Basically, it was First Come, First Served!!!

Friday afternoon, I loaded as much as I dare onto my pickup.

Saturday morning, we headed to Vidalia with the same trailer on which we loaded the lumber from the barn. After careful stacking, we had about 80% of the board ready to head westward.
